Our Story and Who we are

Founded by Pastor Emmanuel and Sarah Nnyanzi, PCM is a ministry born out of both their traumatic childhood experiences inspired by God to change thousands of lives.

Our
Story

Both were raised by hostile step mothers under very difficult and torturous environments with no hope for the future. Skipping a lot of their childhood stories, they later found Christ and soon after they had gotten married, they started doing evangelism by moving door-to-door. While doing this, they met a lot of children with stories similar or worse than theirs. Heartbreaking stories that reminded them of their own childhood, so they began to pray for someone to come help these children and change the narrative.

Never in a million years would it have occurred to them that they might be the answer to their prayer for these children as they were struggling with their own children. Resources were limited and they believed they had nothing to offer until they found out otherwise much later on. God had spoken to Pastor Emmy through some rhetoric flashback questions like 'When you were a child suffering at the hands of your step mom, were you crying because of lack of basic needs or love?'

In the time he was answering the question himself, he had a voice asking and prompting 'What makes you think these children are crying because they lack basic needs? Why not try giving your love and see if you won't bring a smile to their  faces!'

Pastor Emmy went on to share this his wife Sarah and they both prayed about it some more. The result was them inviting some children into their single-roomed house where they were staying with their children. Basically doubled the occupancy without getting extra room with the goal of loving on all the children and caring for them the same way. This act and move is how Parental Care Ministries as we know it was born.

The story onwards is a series of miracles, crazy faith, and unwarranted grace. A testimony of patience, faith, hope, and grit. A manifestation of God's loving kindness through the highs and lows in life, a testament to Jehovah Jireh-the provider!

It's a story that includes a couple staying with 45 kids in a three bedroomed house. One that watches them struggle to pay for school fees that they ended up selling this house (which in itself was a miracle that came through an eventual friend from the UK) and car that was rightly named 'Miracle Van' to start a school for these children while putting their teaching experience to work inorder to educate them.

All that mattered to them was that these kids were happy and had a chance at a better life and future. The genesis of the school was tough  as resources were scarce, but the one one thing that was constant was the love and hope Emmy and Sarah had for these kids. And even more importantly, God's unwavering kindness and love were present throughout everything and eventually their faith paid off. The crazy faith they expressed in selling their house and car to make things happen.

Two decades and some years after their initial act of faith, God has changed the narrative for thousands of children, women, and communities in Uganda and East Africa.
